You probably need new power points if...

Double adaptors everywhere

You are running double adaptors and power boards in every room just to plug everything in. Overloaded outlets create heat buildup and increase the risk of electrical fires. Extra power points in the right spots eliminate the danger and the mess. If your switchboard is old it may also need upgrading to handle additional circuits.

Cracked or damaged outlets

Your power points have cracked face plates, discoloured plastic, loose plugs that fall out or switches that spark when you flick them. Damaged outlets are a shock and fire risk that should be replaced immediately. A safety switch will protect against earth faults but it cannot fix a physically damaged outlet.

Renovating or building

You are renovating your kitchen, bathroom, outdoor area or adding a new room. Getting power points placed correctly during the build saves cutting into finished walls later. Plan your layout around where appliances and furniture will sit so you are not relying on extension leads after the job is done.

Home office or workshop

Working from home or setting up a shed workshop means you need dedicated circuits and enough outlets to run computers, monitors, tools and equipment without tripping breakers or overloading shared circuits. A dedicated circuit from the switchboard keeps your workspace running independently from the rest of the house.

Four reasons Brisbane locals install new power points.

The average Brisbane home built before 2000 has half the power points a modern household actually needs. More devices, more appliances, more demand.

Eliminate fire risk

Double adaptors and overloaded power boards are one of the leading causes of house fires in Australia. Purpose installed power points on properly rated circuits remove the risk entirely. No more daisy chaining boards behind the TV cabinet.

Neat and tidy finish

New flush mounted power points with clean white face plates make your walls look sharp. No more yellowed plastic, paint splattered covers or surface cracks from decades of use. A small upgrade that makes every room look better.

Practical placement

Getting power points where you actually need them means no more extension leads running across doorways or behind furniture. Kitchen benchtops, bedside tables, home offices and outdoor entertaining areas all benefit from outlets in the right spot.

Add value to your home

Buyers and renters notice when a home has enough power points in practical locations. It is a small upgrade that makes a genuine difference when selling or leasing your property. Combined with a switchboard upgrade and safety switch installation it shows the electrics have been properly maintained.

Power Point Installation Brisbane questions locals ask.

Straight answers on cost, placement, compliance and what is actually involved.

A single double power point installation starts from $280 ex GST. The final price depends on whether it is surface or flush mounted, how far the cable run is from your switchboard and whether a new circuit is needed. We provide a clear written quote before starting any work.

Yes. We install power points in all types of Brisbane homes including older Queenslanders, post war homes and brick houses. Older homes sometimes need a new circuit run from the switchboard if the existing wiring is at capacity but we check all of this during the on-site assessment.

Flush mounted power points sit inside the wall with only the face plate visible. Surface mounted power points sit on the wall surface with a small box behind them. Flush mounting gives a cleaner look but requires cutting into the wall. Surface mounting is quicker and works well on brick, block and concrete walls.

Australian standards allow a maximum of 20 points on a single lighting and power circuit, but in practice we keep it well under that to avoid overloading. If you are adding several power points or running high draw appliances we may recommend a dedicated circuit from the switchboard.

Yes. Under Queensland electrical regulations all new power point circuits must be protected by a safety switch (RCD). If your switchboard does not have one covering the circuit we will recommend adding one as part of the installation.

Yes. We install weatherproof outdoor power points rated to IP53 or higher with spring loaded covers that keep moisture and dust out. Outdoor power points must be on their own RCD protected circuit and we handle all of that as part of the job.

Yes. We supply and install power points with built in USB-A and USB-C charging ports. They are great for kitchens, bedrooms and home offices where you are constantly charging phones and tablets without taking up a plug socket.

A single power point on an existing circuit typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. If a new circuit needs to be run from the switchboard or walls need to be chased it may take a bit longer. A full home upgrade with multiple points usually takes half a day.

For flush mounted power points yes we need to cut a small rectangular hole for the mounting box. We do this neatly with the right tools so the face plate covers the opening completely. For surface mounted points no cutting is required.

Yes. All electrical work carried out by SEQ Sparky comes with the appropriate testing and documentation to confirm it meets Australian standards and Queensland electrical safety regulations.
