QLD Licence 90899 · Safety switch installations since 2016
No safety switches on your switchboard? SEQ Sparky installs RCD safety switches that meet Queensland legislation. Fully licensed, fully insured, quoted on site by Anthony. Same week availability across Brisbane Southside.
Serving homes across Brisbane Southside, Logan, and Redlands.
Your switchboard has circuit breakers but no RCD safety switches. Circuit breakers protect wiring from overloads but they do not protect people from electrocution. Only a safety switch can cut power fast enough to save a life.
Your home still runs a ceramic fuse board with rewirable fuses. These boards were installed before safety switches existed and cannot accept modern RCDs without a full switchboard upgrade or dedicated safety switch module.
Queensland law requires safety switches on all power point circuits before a property can be sold or leased. If you are preparing a property for sale or putting it on the rental market, safety switch compliance is mandatory.
Your existing safety switch keeps tripping for no reason or the test button does not work when you press it. A faulty safety switch offers no protection at all and needs replacing immediately.
A safety switch is the only device in your switchboard designed to protect people. Circuit breakers protect wiring. Safety switches protect lives.
A safety switch detects current leaking through a person’s body and cuts power in under 30 milliseconds. That is fast enough to prevent a fatal electric shock from a faulty appliance, damaged cable or wet conditions.
The Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 (Qld) requires safety switches on all power point circuits before a property sale or new lease. From 2025 all Queensland rental properties must have safety switches on all circuits including lighting.
Children, elderly family members and tenants are most vulnerable to electrical accidents. A properly installed safety switch provides 24/7 protection against earth fault currents from faulty appliances, damaged leads and wet areas.
Most older homes only have a safety switch on one or two power circuits. Lighting circuits, air conditioning, hot water and pool equipment are often left unprotected. Full RCD coverage means every circuit in your home is monitored.
Every quote is fixed in writing before work starts. No day-rate blowouts. No hidden materials charges.

Clipsal and Hager RCDs rated at 30mA sensitivity. Australian approved components that meet AS/NZS 3190.
You receive the appropriate testing records and documentation confirming your safety switches meet Queensland electrical safety requirements.
Anthony inspects your entire switchboard before installing. Loose connections, damaged wiring and overloaded circuits are identified and reported.
Anthony does the work personally. Not an apprentice. Not a subbie. Not a call centre dispatch.
Every circuit is tested for correct operation, earth fault sensitivity and trip time. Your safety switches are verified working before Anthony leaves.
Labour warranty on the install plus full manufacturer warranty on the safety switches and components.

If your board needs upgrading to accept safety switches, a full switchboard upgrade starts from $2,500. Anthony quotes on site with a fixed price in writing before any work begins.
Yes. The Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 (Qld) requires safety switches on all power point circuits before a property can be sold or a new tenancy agreement signed. From 2025 all Queensland rental properties must have safety switches on all circuits including lighting. New homes have required safety switches on all circuits since 2018.
A circuit breaker protects wiring from overloads and short circuits. It stops cables from overheating and causing a fire. A safety switch (RCD) protects people from electrocution by detecting current leaking through a body to earth and cutting power in under 30 milliseconds. You need both for proper protection.
You should press the test button on every safety switch every three months. The switch should trip immediately and cut power to the circuits it protects. If it does not trip when tested it is faulty and needs replacing. Anthony can show you how to test them after installation.
In many cases yes. If your switchboard has enough space and the wiring is in reasonable condition, safety switches can be added without replacing the entire board. If your board is a ceramic fuse type or has no room for additional devices, a full switchboard upgrade may be needed. Anthony will assess this during the on-site inspection.
A single safety switch installation typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. Full home RCD protection covering all circuits usually takes two to four hours depending on the number of circuits and the condition of your switchboard. Power is only off briefly during the actual connection.
An RCBO is a combined device that provides both circuit breaker and safety switch protection in a single unit. This means each circuit gets its own dedicated safety switch so if one trips it only affects that circuit, not the entire house. RCBOs are the best option for new installations and upgrades.
Safety switches protect against earth fault currents which are one cause of electrical fires. However they do not protect against all fire risks such as overloaded circuits, loose connections or damaged wiring within walls. A combination of safety switches, circuit breakers and surge protection provides the most comprehensive protection.
For new installations and switchboard upgrades, yes. AS/NZS 3000 requires safety switches on all circuits including lighting. Many older homes only have safety switches on power circuits. Adding RCD protection to lighting circuits is recommended for full home protection and is mandatory for rental properties from 2025 in Queensland.
